How to Create a Transparent Profile Picture (PFP) on Discord

Step One: Open Kapwing and Resize Background

Head over to Kapwing.com and click 'Start Editing.' Then, click 'Start with a blank canvas.' Under output size, select 'Custom' and set the width and height to 128x128 pixels. This is the recommended size for Discord's profile picture.

Step Two: Make the Background Transparent

Under background color on the right side of the Studio, click the last circle with the red diagonal line to make the picture transparent.

Step Three: Export and Download

Click 'Export Image' at the top of the Studio and wait for it to be processed. Once it's done, click 'Download' to save the PNG file.

Now that you have your blank profile picture, it's time to upload it to Discord!

Uploading Your Transparent PFP to Discord

Head over to Discord and click the settings icon at the bottom left corner of the screen. Click on your current avatar and select 'Upload Image.' Choose the transparent PNG file you just downloaded.

You'll see your blank profile picture appear next to the headphones icon and the mute button.
